MHADA Lottery Scheme For Housing - Online Application, Eligibility, Fees And Other Information


Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) from 2008 started a lottery system to sell flats in low costs under a housing scheme to counter over expensive flats sold by private builders. Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) was established in 1977 as an apex body and for last 4 years it came out with a very successful scheme of selling flats in very low cost through lottery system of Mumbai and Konkan board.


To combat the high price of real estate especially in Mumbai, this system was very much successful in its first year that is 2008 and about 65000 applications were submitted and around 850 flats were sold. In just four years the application increased by three fold and even the flats were sold three times more that what it was in 2008. The application usually starts in the month of May every year.

Categories of flats/houses under MHADA lottery housing scheme


Four categories of houses are sold and this category is based on the income of the applicants. T(hese four categories are HIG (high income group), MIG (Middle income group), LIG (low income group) and last is economically weaker section.

How to apply online for MHADA lottery system housing scheme


Online application can be made at site https://lottery.mhada.gov.in/OnlineApplication/mhadaApplication.do where you can to fill complete details as mentioned and mode of payment which can be through DD or online. Cost of application form is Rs 100.

The online application for MHADA housing through lottery starts from 1st May in 2013 and last date to apply is 27th May 2013.

Cost of flats under MHADA housing scheme Mumbai board in 2013 is approximately 48-50 lakhs for 2 BHK of about 560 sq feet super built area and about 75-80 lakhs for 3 BHK of 766 sq feet super built area.

The actual market price for these flats is about 16000 Rs per sq ft which will be given at the rate of about 8700 Rs per sq feet for 2 BHK and 9800 Rs per sq feet for 3 BHK which is almost 45% less.

So if you dream for a house in Mumbai but have budget constraints, try your luck and apply for MHADA lottery 2013 for housing scheme.
