Celebration of New Year 2012
Celebration of New Year starts right from the previous year's last days night i.e. 31st December 2011. Actually we celebrate both last day of the year as well as 1st day of the year.
It is generally the time to meet and greet people. It is believed that this time of the year that brings lot of hope and prosperity to the community. People celebrate the beginning of the year in different special ways. We in India celebrate always celebrate any occasion in a traditional way. Few ways of celebration are:
Oil lamps are lit in front of the house.
Rangolis are made with pink, red, purple and yellow flowers.
New clothes are worn.
Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesha are worshipped.
Gifts and sweets are exchanged.
Adding to the celebration, one should be ready to make some donation during this time of the year. All actions during the New Year should be such that it brings immense joy to others. The reason is if one starts the year with joy then happiness will follow the year through.
