chicken 500 grams
coconut 1 bowl (equal to 1/2 coconut)
sliced onions 2(med. sized)
garlic 6-7 cloves
ginger 1/4 inch
coriander 2-3 tbsp
ginger-garlic paste 1-2 tsp
chopped ginger-garlic 1 tsp
chopped onions 3-4 tbsp
malvani garam masala 3-4 tbsp
red chilli powder 1-2 tbsp
turmeric 1 tsp
salt as per taste
oil as req
1)wash and clean the chicken.then marinade it with ginger garlic paste,salt,turmeric,1 tbsp malvani masala and 1 tbsp chilli powder.(keep chicken to marinate for 30 mins to 1 hour)
2) heat oil in a pan and seperately fry onions, coconut, garlic, ginger (fry until brown, do not burn)
3)grind these fried items along with coriander;make a smooth paste.
4)now heat oil in a vessel and saute chopped onions,ginger and garlic.
5)then add marinated chicken and fry on the oil for 10 minutes (when chicken is on the verge of changing its color form pink to white)
6)then add the gourd onion and coconut paste in the chicken and mix well.(add water if desired)
7)now add malvani masala ,red chilli powder and salt.(add water if you want thin gravy)
8) let the gravy boil, after one boil cover the vessel with lid and pour water on it; cook till water evaporates.(nearly 15 -20 min)
9) serve with chapati, puri or rice.
