Is E-Voting in Mumbai for Thane Municipal?
Now in India, first time voting is on online. Voters will be able to give their vote online. In the forthcoming civic elections for 2012, state Election Commission will be introducing E-voting in two wards of Thane.
Mr. R.A. Rajeev who is commissioner of Thane Municipal said that 29 august 2011 is state election commission will announce names of those wards early as possible as which will be selected for E-voting. Further commissioner said that firstly registration required for vote online. Voter who wants cast their votes online, they register their names. People who want to cast their votes online, they make sure their names are there in the voter's list.
This would be first time that is the voting machines not needed to bring to a central location for counting, as the civic body plans to use custom made 3G phone applications to send the data from polling booths to the central server.
Mr. Rajiv said that poll results manually feed by the presiding officer into phone application and then send this result to control room. Total 65 wards in Thane in the Municipal Election and each ward contains two seats. 'A' seat under some type of reservation with 'B' seat either for open all or with 50% seats reserved for women in both A and B ward.
