If you want to take admission in engineering them you have to give an entrance test for engineering. There's MHT-CET (Maharashtre Technical Common Entrance Test) in maharashtra. After you give mht-cet you have to fill choice form of college and branch. There are other entrance tests too, like AIEEE(All Indian Engineering Entrance Exam). Some of private colleges have their own entrance exam.
Engineering is really a great way to make your career, but only when you choose a right branch which suits you. There are many branches in engineering. Mechanical, electrical and civil are mother brancher (or you may say evergreen). But thats not true that only mechanical is best. The best branch is that one which suits you. First know your interest. If you like to hang out with your computer, then CSE or IT is best to you. If u love to dissmental and rejoin your toys then Mechanical is best for you. So first find your interest then choose your branch carefully.
After you selected your branch then it comes to university. University really matters when you are appearing for a campus. Many multinational companies allow only mumbai, pune and shivaji university in maharashtra. Its very important to get admission in a recognised university. So find a well recognised university in your state.
College also plays a major role in making your engineering career successful. A recognised and NAAC acredated college must be selected to make your career.
