Directions For Drawing Rangoli

Every Housewife takes pride in drawing an artistic 'Rangoli' on the floor. It would be better if these arts were taught right from childhood. Even if one does not possess specific knowledge of the art of painting. One can draw artistic line with the help of dots and make a beautiful design on the floor with proper combination of colors. Drawing design with more dots will not be difficult provided accuracy and tidiness are maintained.

Note the following particulars for drawing a neat and beautiful 'Rangoli':
1.Use a dotted paper instead of making dots by hand. For this, make squares, drawing straight lines at the distance of two cm on a card-paper and on the points of their intersections make holes with lighted incense-stick.
2.Sift soft stone powder (chirodi) and coal powder with a sieve having tiny holes and fill another tin box with powder.
3.Select the colors you required and buy them from the market. Keep them in small plastic containers.
4.Use spoons for white chirodi, colors or coal powders.
5.Before filling the design with color, mix white chirodi or black powder with the required color on a separate piece of paper. Colors bought from the market are very sticky and so cannot be taken in the pinch easily. Add some light color or black powder to make it blackish and coarse. It is easy to fill the design with this coarse color-powder.

Draw square on a suitable place on the floor and make dots inside the square with the help of the dotted paper .Join the dots with lines and you can make beautiful Rangoli designs.
