Bhonda Mahadeo Temple In Nagpur
This temple is stated as Grade I Structure in the list of heritage Buildings of Maharashtra state. The temple is located at Sitabuldi Tekdi Road in Nagpur. The temple has not "Kalash". This is the main feature of temple. So people called this temple as "Bhonda" means without kalash. The whole temple is built with stones and Clay. The temple is built before 190 Years. The whole Temple is decorated with beautiful Tanjavur Carving work. Special Saoner stones were cut in proper way to built grabha gruha and shikhar of temple. There is statue of Nandi on Stone Plinth of temple. The idol of "Gajlaxmi" is situated on the entrance of temple. The idols of Nag, Annapurna Devi and lord Ganesh is situated around the "Shiv Ling" in temple. Various stories of Ramayan and Mahabharat were depicted on the temple. The temple caring committee organized various program during 'Sharavan' and 'Kartik' month. The program like Bhajan, Kirtan and Mahaprasad were organized in this months. Most of the people visit this temple during the Utsav.
History Of Temple
This temple is built by two working persons in British regiment called Gundopanth Dandige and Vinayakrao Aurangabadkar. Both of them were very strong devotee of Lord Shiva. Dindige was earlier work in Maysor for Tipu Sultan. He is Brahmin and knew 11 different languages. When Tipu Sultan was lost in battle then Dandige is come in contact with British People. British government appointed him as a Manager of Bhonsla state. Sitabuldi Battle was started and Appasaheb Bhonsle lost in battle. People of Nagpur were burn the Dandige's House. After this British allotted him a small land. He built temple on this land. After construction of this temple, people face most of the problems in installation of Kalash. So up till now Temple was built without a 'Kalash'.
