After the long-drawn-out discussion, the senior editorial team of Lokmat Media Limited which is headed by its chairman and Raj Sabha member Vijay Darada had finished a list of five sportsperson from Maharashtra for the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Award 2010. Nominees list taken from the sportsman's popularity along with people and also performance of the sportsperson. Winner will be determined through the lakhs of readers of Lokmat Media and board of jury.
Nominees are:

1.Kavita Raut( Code:KAVI)



Kavita Raut who is tribal girl residing in the neighborhood of Nashik district has spell bounced the sports lovers by her sheer presentation in long distance sprint. She has broken several records and she sets new record in 10 kilometers, she completes this sprint 34.32 minutes. Commonwealth Games 2010 which are held in New Delhi where Kavita won a bronze medal. Last year, Asian Games which are held in Guangzhou, in that tournament, she won the Silver medal. She left her paw marks as a sprinter as well as India has large numbers of hopes from her.

2.Tejaswini Sawant: (Code: TEJA)



On the bleak performance of Maharashtra is shooting events in past, Tejaswini Sawant stands to one side as a tall sportswoman. She is Kolhapur-based athlete has equaled several world records in shooting and put a new history. 50 meters rifle prone shooting event held at Munich in Germany where she won gold medal. She won two gold medals in 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and she won two Silver and one bronze medal in 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games.

3.Virdhwal Khade: (Code: VIRD)



Natural medal winner in swimming who is Kolhapur based swimmer is Virdhwal Khade. He is single Indian swimmer who qualifies for Olympic Games. His performance is the freestyle swimming was significant in 500 meters and 100 meters and 200 meters. Last 24 years India never won any medal in the butterfly style swimming but Virdhawal won a gold medal in butterfly in 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games. In South Asian Games, he sets three records with six gold medals. He put five records and won six gold medals in 33rd national Games.

4.Rahul Aware: (Code: RAHU)



From Pune's Gokul Akhad, wrestler who trained by Hind Kesari. Harishchandra Birajdar is Rahul Aware. He came into glare of publicity when he won gold medal in wrestling are last year's Commonwealth Games. He is also youngest wrestler who participated in International Wrestling event.



5.Arman Jafar:(Code:ARMA)



Last year Arman set a world record of scoring 498 runs in inter-school tournament. He is just 13-year old Cricketer. He is nephew of India's former opening batsman Wasim Jafar. Arman who represents Rizvi Spring field School, Bandra scored 498 runs in opposition to Raja Shivaji School by 77 boundaries. Due to his most excellent performance India is looking to him as a upcoming opening batsman of cricket team.
