But this first computer has now undergone a sea change. Modern super computers an robots can perform almost everything.
A computer is almost like a human brain. It has a memory and work electronically. You can feed the computer with different information. "To feed" a computer means "to programme" it. It will then give you results instantly based on the information you have supplied.
A computer is a complex system. It has many transistors, electric circuit, tapes and so on. It analyze the information and solves problems. Computers can solve within seconds problems which brilliant scientist will not be able to do in a number of years. The memory of the computer can store up information which can be recalled any time by operating a button. It can detect mistakes and provide guidelines. Another advantage is that the computer can work with perfection and accuracy.
Now days computer are used in banks, laboratories, hospitals, libraries and research institutions. It can help the pilot in a plane. When the runway is not visible due to bad weather the computer guides the pilot in landing the plane safely. It can be used as weather forecasters in meteorological laboratories.Another interesting fact about computers is that it can play chess and compose music. They are now used in big hospitals for diagnosing disease or to help in operations. They are also useful in space studies, for launching rockets, satellites and spacecrafts.

Thus the computer has revolutionized human life. As a result man has more leisure now which can be utilized for nobler tasks.
