On every 6 th January world celebrate Journalism day. We have must remember the father of Indian journalism Shree Aacharya Bal Gangadharshastri Jambhekar popularly known as Balshastri Jambhekar. They founded Darpan Daily Newspaper in both English and Marathi. The Maharashtra Government, department of IT publish the journalism day greetings as follows,

Shree Aacharya Bal Gangadharshastri Jambhekar born at Ponbhurle [Sindhdurga] on 6/01/1812. Balshastri was study Marathi and Sanskrit at home from his father. In 1825 they came to Mumbai, and start his talented career with Education societies college. Shree Jambhekar at age of 20 years only become a 1st Indian who titled as Professor (youngest Indian professor). They did active work for development of society, Sir Narayan Chandavalkar said बाळशास्त्री जांभेकर हे आध्य समाजसुधारक आहेत. As social reformer they actively oppose sati pratha, child marriage, killing of girl baby child, andhashraddha etc. Shree Jambhekar was founded 1st Marathi news paper called Darpan in both English and Marathi language successfully. They also start Digdarshan magazine monthly. They got awarded from King Of France for knowledge of French language. They also know the several languages include Marathi, Sanskrit, Bengali, Gujarati, Kaandi, Telugu, Farshi, French, Greek and Latin. The 1st printed Dnyaneshawari published by Balshastri. They also translated Different Integral Calculus book for Indian students.
Shree Balshastri Jambhekar was a 1st Social Reformer, Journalist, Historian, Language translator, Grammar, Publisher at the age of 34 died on 17th of May 1846.
We all remember Shree Balshastri Jambhekar for his work and dedication for development of our society on the occasion of Journalism Day.
