25 new rural courts in Maharashtra soon

In a Cabinet meeting held in Mumbai on October 20, 2010, the Government of Maharashtra has decided to set up 25 new rural courts in those remote plaes where no judicial infrastructure facility presently available. An official from the Law and Judicial Department has added that Rs 18 lakh has been approved as initial funding for each of the 25 courts.

The courts which was initiated last year deals with local civil and criminal cases and use simple langauage for easy understanding by the people. Ralegansiddhi (Ahmed), Kharavali (Raigad-Alibaug), Gadchandur (Chandrapur), Nizampur (Dhule), Pali (Ratnagiri), Uralikanchan (Pune) villages were the first to have the rural courts as a part of the project, the official added.
