New Courses at IGNOU – Launches program on Teaching German language


A New Course Program on "Diploma in Teaching German as a Foreign Language" has been launched by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in association with the Max Muller Bhavan (Goethe-Institut ), New Delhi and the University of Vienna on Tuesday.

The program has been launched jointly by Thomas Matussek, Ambassador of Germany to India, Ferdinand Maultachl, Ambassador of Austria to India and Phillipe Welti, Ambassador of Switzerland.

The program seeks to "bridge the Gap" between between the demand and supply of German teachers within Schools in the country, according to an IGNOU spokesperson and Co-coordinated by Renu Bharadwaj., the program t is being run by the School of Foreign Languages, IGNOU. "Learning German opens doors to 13 European countries. Foreign language training has become a necessity today," he added.

The program will be offered in Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Mumbai for the present, which is a s a prototype model and will be followed by teaching programs in other foreign languages soon. Out of 340 students who have already registered for the first batch, 225 are from Delhi.
