Diploma Courses in Transport Sector from MMRDA

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to change the transpoort scenario in the city of Mumbai. MMRDA will soon introduce Diploma Courses in Transport Sector by MMRDA is in the offing. The aim is to have experts in the subject of Transport, who will serve usefully the modern modes of transport such as Metro and Mono Rail, according to Ms Bhide, the Joint Metopolitan Commissioner of MMRDA, who was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the second successive and successful training workshop organized by the National Mass Transit Training and Research Institute established by MMRDA Elaborating further "The aim is to institutionalize the training programmes in the transport sector which is at the cusp of changing the transport scenario in the city of Mumbai. We are looking at tie-ups with Indian as also foreign Universities for the purpose. The 4-day training programme, held with the help of the Federal Transit Administration, has thrown open a lot of options and will certainly add value to the National Mass Transit Training and Research Institute", said Ms.Bhide.

According to Rita Dagulliard, Director, Federal Transit Administration,of USA, "The response to the training programm from all the participants was very lively and provocative which only highlighted the interest they had in the workshop. The interaction with the participants not only underlined their curiosity but also kept our faculty members on their toes!" The crucial subject of the last day's Training Program was "Intelligent Transportation System.

40 participants from various agencies such as Traffic Police, Railays, Metro Rail officials from Bangalore and Chennai, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd., Louis Berger Group, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).There was active inter action among the participants. The participants received a Certificate for attending the 4 days Training Program.
