Vishrambaug Wada

In the Pune there are many places you can visit , that are hitorical as well as they are from the Peshwa age.

Peshwa Bajirao II was lived in the Vishrambaug wada. Total area of this place is 20,000 square feet. Vishrambaug wada was built in 1811 by the Peshwa Bajirao II. One of the gardenr of the Peshwa whoes name is Vishram , from his name wada got the Vishrambaug Wada. The construction of vishrambaug wada is in the Peshwai architechture style. It has influence of Rajput architecture. YOu can found the magnificent three storeyed edifice with great dark processed saag columns and cream wall. The overall look from the suru columns to the intricate ceilings, took me back to more glorious times. Intricately carved ornamental teardrop teak pillars shaped like suru trees. In the entrance side you got the teak gallery. In the stone floor provides a cool respite from the blazing summer suns.

In this wada you can found the large dancing hall called Mastani Hall. In this wada you can found the large number of artifacts, paintings and other items belonging to the the Peshwai. When the Peshwa rule was ended the this took by British. In the Vishrambaug wada, there are many offices of Pune Municipal Corporation. The Babasaheb Purandre is responsible for this transformation. In this wada one small museum is created where you can visit but the entry fee is nominal Rs. 5/- per person.
