Aurangabad Municipal Elections Results 2010
Elections to the Municipal Corporation of Aurangabad will be held today. Results of Aurangabad Municipal Elections 2010 will be declared tomorrow (Monday 12th). A bit of theatrics looking like a Bollywood hungama occured just a few weeks ago, when Abdul Sattar (Minister of State for Food & Civil Supplies) physically hit out at an activist from the Congress party; the activist had hurled corruption charges against Sattar, which had angered him no end. That's Indian politics for you!
Total Seats: 98
Ruling Party: Sena-BJP
Parties in the fray for the 2010 Aurangabad Municipal Elections : The Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance will battle it out against the combine of the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In fact, the contest could be a real humdinger, with the contest primarily between the Congress-NCP alliance with the Pradeep Jaiswal-led City Progressive Front & the saffron combine facing them. Trying to get in a foothold is the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
What to expect: A keen tussle is definitely on the cards! All eyes & ears will be eager to know if Chief Minister Ashok Chanvan will win, as it is a really big election contest for him in Marathwada. Some of the other big names in the contest are Rajesh Tope & Jaidutt Kshirsagar (both NCP) and Rajendra Darda & Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil (both Congress).
Abdul Sattar (Congress) has already been declared elected unopposed from the Nehru Nagar ward after all the other candidates withdrew their nominations.
