  • Bhimasankar: Bhimashankar is 115 Kms. away from Pune in the Ghat region of Sahyadri hills. Bhimasankar temple is located in the village of Bhorgiri which is 50 Kms. north west of Khed, near Pune. This place is also the source of Bhima River which flows south east and merges with the Krishna River near Raichur in Karnataka. We can see the beautiful temple of Lord Shiva at Bhimasankar. This temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Lord Shankara after getting angry, killed Rakshas Tripurasura. The heat generated from their war caused the origin of river Bhima. So this place is called as Bhimashankar. There is also a Wild life Sanctuary located at Bhimashankar.

    Bhimashankar is full of natural beauty and excellent sceneries. This place is a paradise for nature lovers, trekkers, jungle lovers. The best season to visit Bhimashankar is in Monsoon and Winter. We can also see the Buddha style carvings of Amba-Ambika, Bhootling, Bhimashankar in the hills of Manmod near this place. This is at a height of 1035 mtrs. above the sea level. Some of the major tourist attractions near Bhimashankar are Hanuman Lake, Gupt Bhimashankar, Origin of river Bhima, Nag Phani, Bombay Point, Sakshi Vinayak etc. A rare animal "Shekru" can be found in deep woods of Bhimashankar. Bhimashankar is worth visited for jungle lovers and trekkers as well as for pilgrims.

  • Raigad Fort: The Raigad fort is located at Raigad district of Maharashtra. This fort is located at a distance of 125 Kms. from Pune city. The Raigad Fort served as the capital of Chatrapathi Shivaji in the year 1674. Raigad Fort is located at a height of 1350 mtrs. above the sea level and is one of the major attractions near Pune city. The main structures in this fort are Queen's Quarters, Public Darbar, Watch towers, and the Darwazas which are almost damaged today. The queen's quarters consist of six chambers meant for the Queen and her attendants. The Watch towers are also damaged today which were once used to spot any threat from enemies from a distance.

    The main entrance of the Raigarh Fort comprises of the Maha Darwaja, which is a great door and provided with protection from the enemies. One of the main attractions of the Raigad Fort is a magnificent statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji, sited opposite the ruins of the main market avenue. The samadhi (tomb) of Shivaji and his dog Waghya is situated near the avenue only.

  • Sinhagad Fort: The Sinhagad is just 25 Kms. away from Pune City. Sinhagad is a favourite and one of the attractions of Pune people. Sinhagad is famous for trekkers especially for Katraj to Sinhagad trek. Sinhagad is 700 mtrs. above the sea level but we can even reach this place by vehicle also.

    We can see Tanaji's samadhi on the fort. The bungalows of Lokamanya Tilak and famous marathi poet G.D.Madgulakar are also lcoated on Sinhagad fort. Dev Take is a famous tank with sweet and cold water is one of the popular on this fort. The main attractions of Sinhagad are Sweet Curd, Buter milk, Kanda Bhaji and Pithle-Bhakari. We can also see the Samadhi of Rajaram Maharaj on this fort.
    We can also see the tower of Doordarshan - Mumbai on this fort. This tower provides TV reception to Pune region. The view of entire Pune city from Sinhagad looks wonderful from here.
