The Trimbakeshwar Temple is located at Trimbak village, which is at a distance of 36 Kms. from Nasik city. Trimbakeshwar Temple is considered as the main Jyotirlinga out of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The Trimbakeshwar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is a saying that anybody who visits Trimbakeshwar attains salvation. There is another saying which says 'There is no place like Trimbakeshwar, no river like Godavari, no mountain like Brahmagiri' etc. Trimbakeshwar is a holiest place to perform Shraddha ceremony. Nirnaya Sindhu - a religious book of Hindus, mentions that this place, where Sahyadri mountain and Godavari river exist is very purifying on the whole earth and is therefore very important for performing Shraddha ceremony.

The Trimbakeshwar Temple was built as per the Indo Aryan style. The construction of present temple was started by Shrimant Balaji Bajirao in the year 1755 in December month. It took 31 years to construct the temple in those days and the total cost was 16 Lakhs in those days. We can see three 'Linga" of the size of a thumb and they are called as Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh - the creator, the organizer and the destroyer. These lingas are natural ( emerged naturally).

The temple is beautifully adorned with idols and sculptures, comprising of figures of humans, animals as well as yakshas. There is a stone wall around the Trimbakeshwar temple. We can see a large statue of a bull in the path that leads to the temple. The Jyotirlingam is situated right in the center of the Garbha Griha and from here the River Ganges trickles constantly through out the year. The Kumbh Mela is celebrated once in 12 years. The Trimbakeshwar Temple serves as the venue for Kumbh Mela. We can see the Ganga sagar bathing ghat near the main temple. A holy dip in this waters will wash away all the sins of a person. Trimbakeshwar Temple has been attracting devotees as well as tourists from remotest corners of India as well as the world.
