Commonwealth Game 4 indian wrestler test POSITIVE

Dealing a body blow to Indian medal hopes at the Commonwealth Games, six wrestlers, including Arjuna awardee Rajiv Tomar, and shot-putter Sourav Vij tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a nasal decongestant in the prohibited list of non-specified substances.

Four of the six wrestlers were to participate in the Games. Discus-thrower Akash Antil, who too tested positive for the same substance, was not part of the Games squad.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) suspended freestyle wrestlers Sumit (74 kg), Mausam Khatri (96 kg), Gursharanpreet Kaur (72 kg) and Tomar (120 kg) — these four were to participate in the Games — and Rahul Mann and Joginder Singh.

Their samples were collected by National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) during the team selection trials held on August 8. The wrestlers were undergoing training at camps in Sonepat and Patiala.

The WFI has named replacements for the Games squad — Narsingh Pancham Yadav (74 kg), Anil Mann (96 kg), Praveen (120 kg ) and Anshu Tomar (72 kg).

"In an emergency meeting of the selection committee of the Wrestling Federation of India held today, the committee selected the replacements,"
