AC Local trains for MumbaiAfter a long time wait, the Airconditioned local trains are finally arriving. Being announced many times till now, the Air Conditioned trains are finally being launched in the months of April - May 2013.
With preparations on full swing, the Air conditioned Coaches for the Mumbai Trains on the Western line are being given the finishing touch at The Chennai Coach Factory.
In all, the trains will have 12 rounds in a day from Churchgate to Borivali. There will be 8 rounds in between Churchgate to Borivali and 4 rounds in between Churchgate to Andheri. The technology embedded in the new trains is at par and with newest of equipment for security and braking assemblies.
These trains will be having self operating doors which avoid the problems taking place in crowded hours.
The capacity of a Air Conditioned local train is 4500 people and this will also help commuters to avoid the scorching heat while traveling along the roads.
Commuters will have to pay extra than the normal tickets for traveling in the Air Conditioned local trains and it will not have any first class or second class.
The rates for the tickets are yet to be decided. But these trains will not have any monthly passes.
